Happy Monday, Nerds.
I’m sharing some visual treats this week in the form of floral book cover designs, specifically from ~1900-1920. Something about the minimal color, bold serif typography, and stylized floral designs just lights up my brain.
I wish I could have each one of these on my shelf. But I have done a little digging and most of these are expensive collectibles, considering they’re more than a century old.
While I’m a sucker for the fun symmetrical designs, I can appreciate the ones that break away from that formula, like the two above featuring oak trees.
I also managed to find designs featuring flowers that I find myself drawing and painting often— poppies, dandelions, thistles. I posted a recent poppy painting session last week, and I just might have another botanical painting post coming up. Stay tuned.
